Washington Post journalist to give public talk
Dan Balz, a journalist with the Washington Post, will be at the University of South Carolina to lecture to students and give a public talk on politics and the mass media Tuesday, March 2.
Balz will address a political-science class taught by Don Fowler in the morning before his public lecture, which will take place at 3:30 p.m. in Room 008 of the Darla Moore School of Business. His public talk, which is free, will include a question-and-answer session.
Balz is one of America’s leading journalists, covering major stories in American politics. He has written several books, including one on the 2008 presidential election, titled “The Battle for America 2008,” which he wrote with Pulitzer Prize winner Haynes Johnson. He also co-wrote the 1996 book, “Storming the Gates: Protest Politics and the Republican Revival.”
Balz’s appearance is sponsored by the dean’s fund of the College of Arts and Sciences.
