To be eligible for the EPA Marshall Scholarship, applicants must
first by selected as Marshall Scholars, applying in the usual way,

social and behavioral sciences; urban and regional planning; and communication
sciences. The Marshall Commission will pay for the first two years of the

The South Carolina Space Grant Program supports undergraduate and graduate research
opportunities in the space sciences and related fields with various programs. Each year,
undergraduates and graduates have the opportunity to participate in research during the summer

Rotary Foundation

Rotary Foundation Global Grants fund scholarships with sustainable, high-impact
outcomes in one of Rotary's six areas of focus: peace and conflict prevention/resolution,
disease prevention and treatment, water and sanitation, maternal and child health,
basic education and literacy, economic and community development. They support graduate
level study during one academic year abroad and provide funding by a cash grant of $30,000
from which the applicant must provide for round-trip transportation, tuition and fees, room,
board and language training (if necessary) and living expenses. Undergraduates may
apply junior year or senior year. Applicants must apply through a local Rotary Club
during the spring semester.

Rhodes Scholarships
|
A highly prestigious and competitive scholarship, the Rhodes
recognizes altruism and superior intellect. The scholarship
provides for two years of study at Oxford in any field. Candidates
must be 18-23 years old, have senior standing, superior academic
ability, a history of service and leadership, be well-informed on
global issues and proven physical vitality. Candidates must be
evaluated by a USC committee for nomination in early September.

Scotland Saltire Scholarships

Scotland Saltire Scholarships (SSS) is a substantial program of scholarships, offered
on a matched funding basis between the Government and Scottish Higher Education
Institutions. The scheme offers up to 200 awards, each worth 2000 British pounds. These
are towards the tuition fees, for any one year of study, on an Undergraduate, Masters
or PhD at any of Scotland's higher education institutions.

The Herbert Scoville Jr. Peace Fellowship Program invites college graduates
to apply for full-time, six-to-nine month Fellowships in Washington, DC.
Outstanding individuals will be selected to work with nonprofit, public-interest
organizations addressing peace and security issues. Applications are especially
encouraged from candidates with a strong interest in these issues who have prior
experience with public-interest activism or advocacy and accepted twice a year.

Soros Fellowships
for New Americans
|
Thirty Fellowships are awarded annually for up to two
years of graduate study in the United States. To be eligible
you may be a resident alien, have been naturalized as a US
Citizen, or are the children of two parents who are both
naturalized citizens. A successful candidate will give evidence
of at least two of the following three criteria for selection:
(1) creativity, originality, and initiative, demonstration in
any area of his/her life; (2) a commitment to and capacity for
accomplishment, demonstrated through activity that has required
drive and sustained effort; and (3) a commitment to the values
expressed in the US Constitution and the Bill of Rights. The
application and selection process will take place in the late
fall and winter.

The Department of Energy (DOE) sponsors a variety of fellowships for students beginning or about to begin graduate study in the sciences at selected American universities. Sixty awards given among First, Second, and Third Teams. The top 20 students are designated members of the First
Team and will be featured in the newspaper and provided a $2500 cash award. The awards are open to full-time
undergraduates of at least junior standing at four-year institutions. Students must be nominated by their
schools. Criteria includes grades, academic rigor, leadership, activities and most important, the student's essay
describing his or her most outstanding intellectual endeavor as a college undergraduate.

Whitaker International Fellows Program
|
The Whitaker International Fellows Program awards year-long grants to students
with a BS or MS in biomedical engineering, bioengineering, or a demonstrated commitment
to the field of BME to study at an institution abroad within three years of their graduation.
Demonstrated language ability for the proposed country of study and a nomination letter from
