The graduate programs in educational psychology and research strive to advance the understanding human development and the science of learning.

Graduate Degrees

The College of Education, offers the master's program in educational psychology and research, which also includes the core requirements of the Ph.D. degree. Students who are interested in pursuing doctoral work in educational research are encouraged to enroll in this program. The college also offers a doctoral degree in educational foundations and inquiry for those interested in conducting research and further study of education and politics, international and comparative education, anthropology of education, social contexts of education, and qualitative methodologies, as well as a graduate certificate in qualitative research.  

M  Master of Education in Educational Psychology and Research (M.Ed.) 

This master's program is designed to build your research skills, including critical reading of research, use of statistical techniques, and the construction, selection and interpretation of cognitive tests.

D  Ph.D. in Educational Psychology and Research

This program offers two areas of concentration. For more information about specific curriculum requirements, please visit the academic bulletin.

Educational Psychology: This program is ideal for anyone who wishes to teach or conduct research in higher education, as well as people who are, or wish to become, responsible for classroom learning in other areas of education and industry.

Educational Research: This concentration will prepare you for fields like academia, consulting, and clinical practices. You will build core competencies in measurement and statistics, evaluating programs, research design, test construction, and analyzing data with computer statistical packages.

D  Ph.D. in Foundations of Education 

The Doctoral Program in Foundations of Education offers a great breadth and depth in the study of social, philosophical, and historical issues in education.

C  Certificate in Qualitative Research

This certificate program will prepare you to conduct qualitative studies and apply best practices in conducting qualitative inquiries. It is a blend of courses in qualitative research theory, method, and design.
