Collection Finding Aid
In 1950, Morris named Chairman of the state Republican Party and became involved in an effort to renew the Party as something more than a patronage organization and provide the state with a viable alternative to the Democratic Party. The Morrises worked on Dwight D. Eisenhower's 1956 presidential campaign and Richard M. Nixon's 1960 campaign. In 1961, they helped elect Charlie Boineau to the South Carolina House. Ann Morris served as President of the Richland County Republican Women's Club in 1962 and 1963 and as National Committeewoman later that decade.
