Giving at South Carolina

Students Making a Difference at Carolina

As a student at the University of South Carolina, you benefit from the philanthropy of donors in some way every day. But did you know that you have the power to help increase giving and improve the university, and you can even begin to leave your own mark before you graduate? In many ways, philanthropy starts and ends with you!

Annual Giving and SPURS

Every year, we ask Carolina’s loyal alumni, parents, students and faculty and staff members to support the university. Annual gifts support the university’s most critical needs, fillings the gaps left by other sources like state funding and tuition. SPURS, Students Promoting the University Reach for Success, is the university’s student philanthropy education program – it’s how interested student inform the rest of campus about the importance of private giving. SPURS works to help build a culture of philanthropy and appreciation among the student body.

How You Can Help

You can find SPURS education all over campus. They visit University 101 classes, educate fellow students at events in front of the Russell House and stop by student organization meetings. And you don’t want to miss out on our Donor Appreciation Day and TAG Day events, where you can stop by one of our convenient locations around campus and write a thank-you note to one of USC’s generous donors.
