Math alumna moving to Carnegie Mellon University

Math alumna Robin Neumayer is moving to the Math Department at Carnegie Mellon University.

Robin graduated summa cum laude from the University of South Carolina in 2012 with a major in mathematics and a minor in business. She completed her PhD at UT Austin in 2017. Following postdoctoral positions at Northwestern and the Institute for Advanced Study, she will join the Department of Mathematical Sciences at Carnegie Mellon University in Fall 2021 as the Gregg Zeitlin Early Career Professor.

The support and opportunities I received in the USC math department have entirely shaped my career. I started taking math classes as a business major, and I found my path in mathematics with a ton of help from the encouraging community of faculty and students in the math department. I later was given the chance to take reading courses and graduate courses and to write a senior thesis — preparation that was instrumental in me being able to succeed in early graduate school. This department will forever hold a special place in my heart!
