Integration Bee

When: April 15th from 4:30 – 6:00 p.m.

Where: Petigru College, Room 217

Judge: Dr. Bailey Heath

We are hosting an Integration Bee, an engaging and fun competition designed to challenge the calculus and integration skills of students! This event is open to all math enthusiasts who are a part of the USC Community.

The Integration Bee will consist of three rounds of integration problems, ranging in difficulty from easy to advanced. Participants will have the opportunity to showcase their problem-solving abilities and compete for prizes.

What: An information panel featuring USC professors and current graduate students.

Guest Speaker: Amy Langville

What: Amy Langville (College of Charleston), "What I've done with my math degrees"

Abstract: I will talk about a handful of projects from both my research and consulting experiences. For example, projects come from work with the Olympic Committee, National Security Agency, lawsuits against Google and Facebook, and SAS statistical software.

Spring Movie Night

What: Co-sponsored by AWM and Pi Mu Epsilon/Gamecock Math Club, we will be showing Hidden Figures, the award-winning film about the women behind one of NASA's most famous missions. Refreshments will be provided!

Graduate Student Research Fair

What: This event is targeted for undergraduates who would like to learn more about what math research in graduate school is like! Five speakers will be presenting 15-minute talks on their current research, tailored to a beginner audience! If you're interested in learning more about what it would be like to go to graduate school in math, come out and learn from our very own graduates.
