Our students prepare for future careers by volunteering, tutoring, participating in clubs and taking part in other activities outside the classroom. We encourage you to learn by immersing yourself.
Each year, we invite lecturers and mathematicians to speak to our students, faculty and any interested public on their areas of expertise. These colloquia are always interesting and offer a window into the various uses and research applications for mathematics.
Our students and faculty aren't the only people interested in mathematics. We offer support to students in other departments, members of the general public and students and faculty from other local schools and colleges.
Enjoy fun social activities and math challenges with students who share your interests. Most recently, we hosted our 15th annual Integration Bee, as well as a Pi Day event and several seminars.
We offer regular informal seminars for graduate students and faculty, though anyone is welcome to attend. These seminars will be posted on our calendar.
Ever wonder why you are required to spend so much time learning mathematics? Have you been told math is important but don’t know why? Join us to find the answers. USC's chapter of the Society of Industrial and Applied Mathematics is an active one and hosts regular events.
We encourage our students to explore their options to study or research off campus, either during the summer or for a semester during the school year.
Need tutoring? Want to be a tutor? The Math Tutoring Center offers free tutoring to UofSC students. It is staffed with talented graduate students who will answer questions about MATH 111, 115, 122, 141, 142, and 170. No appointment is necessary — you are always welcome to join during any of the hours listed below. These services are group tutoring sessions.
