Society of Composers International conference is Nov. 11 - 14
The University of South Carolina School of Music will host the 2010 Society for Composers International (SCI) conference Nov. 11-14 at the School of Music.
Two hundred composers and performers will participate in 14 concerts, performing more than 100 works of new music and giving six academic presentations/demonstrations.
All events, except for the South Carolina Philharmonic Orchestra program, will be free. All events are open to the public.
The following is the SCI conference calendar of events:
Thursday, Nov. 11
7:30 p.m., Greene Street United Methodist Church – USC Concert Choir, University Chorus, Colla Voce Community Choir and Graduate Vocal Ensemble perform works by Daniel Adams, Chris Arrell, Mike D’Ambrosio, Peter Fischer, Jerry Hui, William Price, Clare Shore. Keane Southard, Marty Regan, Kevin Waters.
Opening Night Reception, 9-10 p.m.

Friday, Nov. 12
8:30 a.m., School of Music recital hall – Guest artists and students perform works by Thomas Couvillon, David Maki, Joseph Dangerfield, John Allemeier, William Burnson, Amy Dunker, Brian Eiffes, Luke Flynn, Byron Petty.
10 a.m., School of Music recital hall – Guest artists and students perform works by Michael Kallstrom, Kui-Im Lee, Alan Schmitz, Jonathan Schwabe, Mark Cook, Steven Landis, Robert A. Baker and Andrew Walters.
1 p.m., School of Music recital hall -- School of Music faculty perform works by Ed Robertson, Luke Dahn, Robert Denham, Arthur Gottschalk, Hee Yun Kim, Jae Eun Jung and Ilva Levinson.
3 p.m., School of Music recital hall -- The Thelema Trio perform works by Mark Engebretson, Ellen Lindquist, Will Redman, Stephen Yip.
6 p.m., School of Music band hall, Room 108 -- University of South Carolina Symphony Orchestra and Chorus perform works by Mark Dal Porto, Tayloe Harding, Allen Brings, Paul Siskind and Alex Davis.
