Director chosen for Leadership Columbia

Scott Lindenberg, director of student media at the University of South Carolina, has been selected for the Leadership Columbia Class of 2013. Leadership Columbia, a program for existing and emerging leaders, is sponsored by the Greater Columbia Chamber of Commerce.
Lindenberg will join 57 professionals in a 10-month curriculum including monthly learning sessions, a class retreat and a group project. More than 1,700 professionals have graduated from Leadership Columbia, since its inception in 1973. This year it will celebrate its 40th graduating class.
At USC, Lindenberg oversees operations of The Daily Gamecock student newspaper, Garnet & Black student magazine, WUSC-FM student radio and SGTV student television. Since joining USC’s staff in 2003, he has served in several leadership positions. He is chairman of the South Carolina Press Association Collegiate Division, treasurer for the American Advertising Federation of the Midlands and serves on the university Environmental Advisory and Commencement committees.
A native of Virginia Beach, Va., Lindenberg is a graduate of Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Va. He completed his graduate degree in journalism and mass communications from USC in 2001. Selection is based on civic involvement, leadership potential, diversity of perspective and commitment to the leadership program and the community.
