Welcome to Charleston, USC
By Ashley Canady Slane, Carolina on King, email@example.com
With the slice of a ribbon, USC President Harris Pastides and Charleston Mayor Joseph Riley, ’67 Law School, officially opened Carolina on King, USC's welcome center in Charleston, Sept. 27.
They were joined by about 60 alumni and friends, all in a festive mood and eager to see the new Horseshoe decor and fine offerings in the store. Members of the USC Board of Trustees, Board of Visitors, Board of Governors, and local alumni and Gamecock Club members also joined in the fun.
To date, 85 alumni have either shown their My Carolina Alumni Association cards or signed up to be members of the association in the store and have walked out with Gamecock yard signs. Approximately 30 prospective students have made inquiries about attending the university.
A big success in its first month, Carolina on King is USC’s bridge and personal point of contact for the Charleston region.
We are looking forward to more great things to come.
Canady Slade is the new director of the welcome center.
