USC Beaufort sports teams have great seasons
Three of USC Beaufort's athletic teams are wrapping up exciting seasons, including the men's baseball team, which has a serious chance of going to the World Series.
USC Beaufort is a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), an athletic association with about 300 member institutions which focus on Champions of Character 5 Core Values.
"The baseball team has had a great regular season and they have qualified to go to the 2010 NAIA Baseball National Championship Opening Round on May 18," said Kim Abbott, USC Beaufort athletics director. "We don't know where that will be held yet, but if they win there they will go on to the World Series."
Head baseball coach at USC Beaufort is Rick Sofield.
The sand shark is USC Beaufort's mascot.
The men's golf team, currently ranked tenth in the nation in the NAIA polls, qualified for the 2010 NAIA Men's Golf National Championship and will compete May 18-21 in Silvas, Illinois. Head coach is Shane LeBaron.
The women's golf team received an at-large bid to the 2010 NAIA Women's Golf National Championship and will compete May 25-28 in Rapid City, South Dakota. Head coach for the men's and women's golf teams is Chris Cuneo.
