USC Beaufort sports teams have great seasons

Three of USC Beaufort's athletic teams are wrapping up exciting seasons, including the men's baseball team, which has a serious chance of going to the World Series.

USC Beaufort is a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), an athletic association with about 300 member institutions which focus on Champions of Character 5 Core Values.

"The baseball team has had a great regular season and they have qualified to go to the 2010 NAIA Baseball National Championship Opening Round on May 18," said Kim Abbott, USC Beaufort athletics director. "We don't know where that will be held yet, but if they win there they will go on to the World Series."

Head baseball coach at USC Beaufort is Rick Sofield.

The women's golf team received an at-large bid to the 2010 NAIA Women's Golf National Championship and will compete May 25-28 in Rapid City, South Dakota. Head coach for the men's and women's golf teams is Chris Cuneo.

A member of the men's track team, Marshall Meyer, a sophomore from Hilton Head, will compete in the National Marathon Championships in Indiana May 28. Head coach for the team is Larry Kimball.
