Arts professor to moderate panel discussion

University of South Carolina professor of art Virginia Scotchie will lead a panel discussion, “Facing the Future,” with fellow artists Don Davis, Scott Meyer and Gay Smith Thursday, Oct. 15, at 4 p.m. in Room 239 of McMaster Gallery.

The event is free and open to the public.

“Facing the Future” is a part of the “Ceramics: Southeast” exhibit, which will be on display Oct. 12 - Nov. 19. “Ceramics: Southeast” is an invitational ceramics exhibition that celebrates contemporary ceramics from traditional pottery to non-traditional sculptural forms. Artists included in the exhibit are Alice Ballard, Russell Biles, Jim Connell, Don Davis, Lauren Gallaspy, Bruce Gholson, Samantha Henneke, Frank Martin, Scott Meyer, Gay Smith, Paula Smith, Mike Vatalero and Jerilyn Virden.

A reception will follow the panel discussion, from 5 - 7 p.m.

Artist Gay Smith will hold a ceramic workshop Oct. 15 and 16 from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. in McMaster Room 103.
