McKissick fundraiser, ‘Spring in the Garden,' returns

The University of South Carolina McKissick Museum’s “Spring in the Garden” fundraiser and reception will be held 2-5 p.m. Sunday, March 14 in the urban gardens of Belinda and Richard Gergel.

Tickets are $75 per person and must be purchased in advance. Call 803-777-7251 to purchase tickets.

Popular USC instructor and naturalist Rudy Mancke will present information sessions during the evening. He will discuss the nature found in and around this Columbia garden.

After touring the garden, known for its flowering bulbs every spring, there will be opportunities to purchase garden artwork, as well as seasonal food and drink.

The garden tour is one of two annual events held to raise funds to support acquisitions and public programs for the museum.

Located on the university’s historic Horseshoe, McKissick Museum features two permanent exhibitions and a number of rotating temporary exhibits. It also provides educational and cultural programming. Many of the museum’s offerings are available through grants and private funding.

McKissick is open to the public from 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays. It is closed on Sundays and holidays.
