The Counseling and Human Development Center will sponsor five workshops for faculty and staff during May. The schedule includes:
Did I Really Say That? Listening Skills Are Not Just For Counselors, 24 p.m. May 13, Ruthann Fox-Hines. The two-hour workshop, limited to 12 participants, will provide training and practice in active, not passive, listening. Nonverbal and verbal components will be examined.
Physical Affection Between Parents And Children: Exploring What Is Appropriate, 10:30a.m.noon May 14, Ruth Witters-Green. The workshop will provide an opportunity for discussion with guidance from the relevant clinical and research literature.
Unlucky In Love? 10 a.m.noon May 21, Ericka Stricklen-Parker and Jody Stevenson. The workshop will address romantic relationships. Topics will include effective communication, setting health boundaries, co-dependency, why we choose the partners we do, and taking care of ourselves in romantic relationships. The workshop is for men and women.
Tapping Your Creativity For Work And Play, 10:30 a.m.noon, Ruth Witters-Green. The workshop will provide participants information about how to increase their inherent ability to be creative.
Struggling For The Words: Embracing A Cross-Racial Dialogue, 12:30 p.m. May 28, Marc Grimmett and Jody Stevenson. The workshop will examine the whys and hows of engaging in meaningful and productive dialogue with culturally diverse people.
