Geri Adler, an associate professor in USCs College of Social Work, has been selected as a Hartford Faculty Scholar and will receive $100,000 during the next two years to improve the well being of older adults by strengthening geriatric social work.
The Hartford Faculty Scholars Program is administered by the Gerontological Society of America and is directed by Barbara Berkman, the Helen Rehr/Ruth Fizdale Professor at Columbia Universitys School of Social Work.
Adlers research topic as a Hartford Faculty Scholar is An Integrated Study of Driving Cessation in Older Adults with Dementia. Adler is among 12 social work faculty members from around the country selected for the program.
The Hartford Geriatric Social Work Faculty Scholars Program is a $5.4 million dollar project to ensure that the country will have the necessary pool of trained and skilled geriatric social workers by creating faculty leaders specialized in geriatric research and teaching.
