| Research conducted by physics professor Ruslan Prozorov and a team of international scientists appeared in the Oct. 1 issue of the American Physical Societys Physical Review Letters.
The collaborative study examines the interplay between magnetism and superconductivity.
Normally, magnetism will destroy superconductivity, said Prozorov, first author on the study. For the first time, we demonstrated a positive interplay between magnetic order and intrinsic superconductivity in novel superconductors discovered in 1986 (that won the Nobel Prize in 1987). It will have a real impact on understanding the mechanism of superconductivity. This is pretty remarkable.
