The USC faculty and staff blood drive will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 13 in the Russell House ballroom.
Sponsored by University Advancement, the annual blood drive is one of Carolina's most visible ways to give back to the community, said Hudson Akin, vice president for University Advancement.
"Typically, the blood supply drops in the summer, often forcing people to postpone surgery and other procedures," Akin said. "This is an opportunity for the Carolina family to show support for the Midlands and help someone who is truly in need."
Donors must be in good health and weigh at least 110 pounds. Those who donate will be eligible for drawings for a $100 gasoline card, to be held later this summer, and for a 12-month prepaid lease on a 2006 Jeep Wrangler, to be held in November.
To schedule a time to give blood on July 13, call Amie Ritner at 7-2070. The entire procedure takes about 40 minutes.
