USC Aiken will observe Constitution Day Sept. 15 by opening an American political theory class to the public.
The class will meet from 12:15 to 1:30 p.m. in room 116 of the Humanities & Social Science Building. The event is free, is open to the public, and is co-sponsored by the American Democracy Project and by the Political Science Club.
The class will view a short film about the Constitution of the United States, and students will offer their thoughts about some of the Constitutions more important provisions. A member of the political science faculty will lead a question and discussion session at the end of class.
In the summer of 1787, 55 delegates met to hold a constitutional convention. On Sept. 17, 1787, their work was submitted to the various state governments for ratification. Today, the United States observes Constitution Day each Sept. 17 and celebrates the document that has made Americas liberty possible.
