USC names interim VP for advancement

Michelle Dodenhoff has been named interim vice president for University Advancement. She succeeds Hudson Akin, who resigned effective Nov. 30.

Michelle Dodenhoff
Dodenhoff, who has directed and coordinated the University’s fund-raising efforts since joining USC last December as assistant vice president for University development, has more than 20 years of experience in education and advancement.

Before coming to Carolina, she served for 11 years in various fund-raising and outreach capacities at Tulane University, where as director of major gifts for Tulane’s Health Sciences Center she oversaw a $225 million capital campaign. She joined the center as director of annual giving and was given expanded responsibilities for alumni relations.

Dodenhoff also worked at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City, where she was director of special gifts and assistant director of individual giving, and at Marymount Manhattan College, where she was coordinator of the alumnae annual fund and director of the annual fund.

She earned a bachelor's degree in economics from Hollins University in Roanoke, Va.

In New Orleans, Dodenhoff served on the Tulane Hospital for Children Leadership Committee, the Children’s Benefit Committee of the Louisiana Children’s Museum, the New Orleans Central Business District Historic Landmarks Commission, and the Board of the New Orleans Junior League.
