USC Upstate has numerous events planned in February to celebrate Black History Month.
All events are free and open to the public.
The schedule is:
- Gospel Choir fellowship night, Feb. 1
- Gospel Choir prayer meeting, noon Feb. 3
- Gospel Choir anniversary concert, 4 p.m. Feb .5, Renaissance Marriott
- Black History Film Series, Chisholm' 76: Unbought and Unbossed, 6:30 p.m. Feb. 7, Tukey Auditorium. Carmen Harris, political science, will facilitate a brief discussion immediately following the film.
- Comedian, Cocoa Brown, 7 p.m. Feb. 9, Campus Life Center Ballroom
- Gospel Choir performance, 7:30 p.m. Feb. 10, Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, Greenville
- Black History Film Series, Something the Lord Made, 6:30 p.m. Feb. 13, Campus Life Center Ballroom
- Gospel Choir Performance, 7 p.m. Feb. 15, Friends in Christ United Methodist Church
- Gospel Choir Performance, 4 p.m. Feb. 18 Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, Camden
- Black History Film Series: Blacks in Film, 6:30 p.m. Feb. 21, Tukey Auditorium. Warren Carson, assistant dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, and Raymond Merlock, fine arts, will facilitate an interactive, multi-media presentation on how African Americans have been perceived in film through the years.
- Black History Film Series, Hotel Rwanda, 7 p.m. Feb. 24, Tukey Auditorium. Facilitators will be York Bradshaw, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, and Chioma Ugochukwu, fine arts.
- Omarosa Stallworth, who appeared on the television show The Apprentice on NBC candidate and who will share secrets to success in the business world, 7 p.m. Feb. 28, Campus Life Center Ballroom.
