For good health, the USDA urges Americans to consume five to nine servings of fruits and vegetables per day, and to choose a healthier, more varied mix of these foods. Wellness Works invites faculty and staff to increase their fruit and vegetable consumption by joining Wellness Works in our annual Recipe Challenge.
The theme of this year's challenge is "salad."
Wellness Works staff will review all recipe submissions and decide which recipes will be presented at the Taste Test Challenge. Heart healthy recipes are strongly encouraged (low fat, sodium, and sugar). People who submit selected recipes will be asked to prepare their salad for the Recipe Challenge Taste Test, which will be open to all faculty and staff. All taste testers will be asked to vote on the best salad; the recipe with the most votes will win a prize.
To participate in the Recipe Challenge, entrants should e-mail their recipe to Wellness Works at wellness@gwm.sc.edu, or send it via campus mail to Wellness Works, Blatt PE Center. Each recipe submission must include the participant's name, phone number, and e-mail address.
Deadline to submit recipes is July 21.
The date, time, and location of the Recipe Challenge Taste Test will be announced after that time.
