A portrait of the late Elmer G. Schwartz, former associate dean and mechanical engineering professor in the College of Engineering and Information Technology, will be unveiled in the main entrance of Swearingen Engineering Center at 4:30 p.m. Aug. 23. A brief reception will follow.

Schwartz, who died from a brain tumor in March 2005, taught at USC for 40 years. A need-based scholarship for mechanical engineering students has been established in his name.
