The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at USC Beaufort will offer a special lecture by USC Beaufort English Professor Marshall Kremers entitled, "Exploring Dan Brown's Novel Angels and Demons." The lecture, which is free and open to the public, will take place at the new USC Beaufort classroom facility at Pineland Station Mall, Suite 304B, on August 16. A wine and cheese reception will start at 5 p.m., and the lecture will begin at 5:30 p.m. Reservations are required by calling 208-8247 or 521-4113.
Kremers' lecture will explore how Dan Brown, author of The DaVinci Code, used CERN, the Swiss research lab, and the Vatican to build a suspenseful tale of murder and intrigue, resulting in the novel, Angels and Demons. Kremers will illustrate the lecture with slides of Vatican City and the physics lab at CERN, which features a state-of-the-art particle accelerator.
