WUSC to hold annual fall fundraiser Oct. 26-29

WUSC-FM, the University's student-run radio station, will hold a fundraiser and will sponsor several fundraiser events Oct. 26-29.

The fundraiser, which falls on the weekend before Halloween, will feature several Halloween-themed events. Although WUSC will continue to adhere to its non-commercial, non-Top 40 format, programming will feature the most popular shows with spooky themes.

The fundraiser will begin at the Art Bar in The Vista Oct. 26 with music from Doomslang, Aposable Scum, and tribute band performances from Falling Off a Building as Bright Eyes, and the Heist and the Accomplice as the Clash. The show will begin at 8 p.m., and the admission is $3. The event will feature a costume contest, with the best costumes winning WUSC t-shirts and CD wallets.

Throughout the weekend, listeners can pledge by calling the on-air DJ at 6-9872 or by donating online through a secure Web site at wusc.sc.edu using any major credit card. More information is available on the Web site and at myspace.com/wusc.

The WUSC Halloween fall fundraiser will end Oct. 29 at 9 p.m. with a live improvised score to the 1919 classic film The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, performed by C. Neil Scott and featuring several guest performers. The film will be shown in Room 153 of Gambrell Hall. More information is available online at www.myspace.com/cneilscott. The cost is $3.

All proceeds benefit WUSC and help USC's alternative station present the best in non-commercial radio.
