Bestselling author Kaye Gibbons will be the dinner speaker for the Thomas Cooper Society's Annual General Meeting and Dinner at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Columbia April 24.The meeting begins at 6 p.m.; cocktails will follow with dinner beginning at 7 p.m.
Gibbons' novels, which focus on self-reliant women as they face the challenges of their everyday lives, have won critical acclaim as well as a wide readership. Her works include Ellen Foster, A Cure for Dreams, Charms for the Easy Life, Divining Women, A Virtuous Woman, Sights Unseen, and The Life All Around Me by Ellen Foster.
Gibbons is the recipient of the Sue Kauffman Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, the Louis D. Rubin Writing Award, and the French Legion d'Honneur.
Tickets for the dinner are available to Thomas Cooper Society members and non-members alike. Cost is $45.
