Hohman named assistant vice chancellor for student development at Beaufort

Robert J. Hohman has been promoted to assistant vice chancellor for student development. In his new position, Hohman will be responsible for daily student development operations at the North and South campuses, as well as managing the Judicial Office and the Housing Office.

Hohman joined USC Beaufort in 2004 as director of advising at the South Campus in Bluffton. Over the years, he has been director of the University of South Carolina at Hilton Head, assistant superintendent of Avon Lake City Schools in Ohio, and an associate professor at Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, Ohio.

"We are delighted to welcome Dr. Hohman to his new position at USC Beaufort," said Jane T. Upshaw, chancellor of USC Beaufort. "Our students will truly benefit from his wisdom and his experience."

An accomplished educator and administrator, Hohman has written extensively about education, including articles about curriculum development, student behavior, and teacher education. He is a member of the S.C. College Personnel Association, the Hilton Head Hospitality Association, and the Hilton Head Island-Bluffton Chamber of Commerce Business/Education Partnership Committee.

Hohman has a BS degree in sociology from St. Vincent College, a M.Ed. in guidance from Indiana State University of Pennsylvania, and a Ph.D. in educational administration from Bowling Green State University.
