University of South Carolina Summer I Chorus will present a program of sacred and secular works by Josef Rheinberger at 7:30 p.m. June 29 and 3 p.m. July 1 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in downtown Columbia. Conductors are Carol Krueger, associate director of choral studies at the University and conductor of the University Choir, and Timothy Sexton. Organist is Mark Husey, director of music and liturgy at St. Peter's Catholic Church.
Summer Chorus concerts are free and open to the public.
Summer II Chorus will be conducted by Larry Wyatt, director of choral studies at the University and director of the University's Concert Choir, and Bobby Helms. Summer II Chorus will begin rehearsals on Handel's oratorio Solomon at 7:30 p.m. July 10 in the School of Music, Room 006. Rehearsals are 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. No auditions are required. Members of the community are invited to join the chorus, although there is a non-student fee of $10 to participate.
Summer II concerts will take place at 4 p.m. August 5 and 7:30 p.m. August 7 at Rutledge Chapel, on the University Horseshoe.
