Some of the nation's finest young dancers of ballet and jazz will perform a combination of original works and classical repertory July 27 at the Koger Center.
Tickets for the 6 p.m. performance are $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 years and under and are available by calling Marissa Freeman at 7-7264.
The performance will be the 2007 finale for the 20th S.C. Summer Dance Conservatory, which attracts dancers from around the world. This year, the conservatory takes place from July 8 to July 28.
The 98 student dancers participating in the three-week conservatory practice dance techniques taught by some of the world's most highly respected choreographers and dance instructors. The intensive workshop will close with all the dancers performing a recital choreographed by summer dance camp faculty.
This year's dance faculty include Bruce Marks, current artistic director of the Orlando Ballet; Kyra Strasberg, former principal dancer for the Boston Ballet; Nick Lazzarini, 2005 winner of the television show So You Think You Can Dance; Miriam Barbosa, a former dancer for the Martha Graham Dance Company; Stacey Calvert, a former solo dancer with the New York City Ballet; and Susan Anderson, artistic director of the University's Dance Company and the Summer Dance Conservatory.
