Alex Kao is a USC Brain Health Speech-Language Pathologist who covers the Seneca area.

Kao earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Clemson University and a master’s in communication sciences and disorders from Western Carolina University.

Kao has worked for Prisma Health Tuomey and Prisma Health Laurens County Hospital and has covered multiple Prisma Health hospitals as needed across the upstate.

Through her 7 years of experience in acute care, Kao has developed an interest in palliative care and supporting patients and their families through speech and swallowing problems that can accompany difficult diagnoses. She has worked closely with palliative care nurse practitioners in the past and places a high value on the role Speech-Language Pathologists hold in counseling patients.

Kao is an avid cook and baker who enjoys exploring international cuisine including Indian, Chinese and Italian. She rarely makes anything more than once.
