For Families

Families are central to our work. We provide support, education and other resources that help families navigate challenges related to neurodevelopment. By participating in research studies, families help us improve understanding and shape future care. We aim to serve each family with individualized attention and support that gives them confidence in their future.

What is the study process?

We’re excited to connect your family with research opportunities at the University of South Carolina.

Get Connected

CAN maintains the Neurdevelopment Research RegistryEmail can@sc.edu to get connected with the research study that’s right for you and your family.

A researcher from the lab will contact you with more details about the study, including what to expect and what you may need to bring.

What to Expect

Studies may take place at the University of South Carolina, Columbia campus, in your home or virtually. The location depends on the specific study you are participating in.

When the study begins, a researcher will greet you, introduce you to the lab and provide any documents you may need to complete before participation begins.

After You Participate

After your participation, a researcher will explain how you will receive compensation, such as gift cards. Compensation will be provided according to the study guidelines.
