National Survey of First-Year Seminars

Between 1988 and 2013, the National Resource Center conducted a National Survey of First-Year Seminars (NSFYS) every three years to provide the most current and comprehensive national portrait of the use of first-year seminars in American higher education.

2012-2013 National Survey of First-Year Seminars

Between 2012 and January 2013, the National Resource Center for The First-Year Experience and Students in Transition undertook its ninth triennial National Survey of First-Year Seminars (NSFYS). The purpose of the study was to gather information about first-year seminars in American higher education. A total of 3,753 institutions received invitations to participate and 896 responded to the survey.

2009 National Survey on First-Year Seminars

In October 2009, the National Resource Center for The First-Year Experience and Students in Transition undertook its eighth triennial national survey of first-year seminar programming in American higher education. The purpose of the study was to gather information about first-year seminars in American higher education.  A total of 2,519 institutions received invitations to participate and 1,019 responded to the survey.

2006 National Survey on First-Year Seminars

In November 2006, the National Resource Center for The First-Year Experience and Students in Transition undertook its seventh national survey of first-year seminar programming in American higher education. The purpose of the study was to gather information about first- year seminars in American higher education. A total of 2,646 institutions received invitations to participate in the survey. A total of 968 responded to the survey.

2003 National Survey of First-Year Seminars

In October 2003, the National Resource Center for The First-Year Experience and Students in Transition conducted its sixth national survey of first-year seminar programming in American higher education. The purpose of the survey was to gather information about first- year seminars in American higher education. A total of 3,258 institutions received invitations to participate in the survey. A total of 771 institutions responded to the survey.

2000 National Survey on First-Year Seminars

In April 2000, the National Resource Center for The First-Year Experience and Students in Transition undertook its fifth national survey of first-year seminar programming in American higher education. The purpose of the survey was to gather information about the first- year seminars in American higher education. A total of 2,597 institutions received invitations to participate in the survey. A total of 1,013 responded to the survey.
