A new Read and Green agreement between University Libraries and ACS Publications gives USC Columbia-affiliated corresponding authors who publish in an ACS hybrid journal the option to deposit their accepted manuscripts into a repository with no embargo and a Creative Commons license.
It’s one of a growing number of open access agreements negotiated by the Libraries that allow USC researchers to make their work immediately and freely available upon publication without having to personally absorb the costs associated with open access publication. Because it is more readily available, work that is shared open access is typically read more widely than work available only behind a paywall, and is thus also likely to have more impact.
A full list of publishers and journals for which University Libraries supports open access publication is available on the Libraries’ OA Journal Support page.
