Open Education Week 2019

Striving to give everyone access to high-quality educational experiences and resources

Celebrate Open Education Week 2019 with University Libraries! We’re sponsoring three activities during the week of March 4 – 8.

“We’ve planned activities to showcase the impact of free and open education on teaching and learning on our campus,” said Amie Freeman, Digital Research Services. “Drop-in Open Education Consultations with teaching faculty, a group webinar screening and discussion, and Open Education Bingo will be informative and fun. We want to raise awareness of the global Open Education Movement, and Open Education Week gives us the opportunity to do that.”

Join us for this year’s free activities:

  • Open Education Consultations, Tuesday, March 5, all day. For faculty and other instructors who want to incorporate elements of Open Education into their teaching, or who want to create or modify shareable teaching resources. Schedule a one-on-one consultation with a member of Digital Research Services. Consultations can take place in Thomas Cooper Library or faculty offices.
  • Group Screening: “Open Education for Student Success,” Wednesday, March 6, 12 – 1:15 p.m., Thomas Cooper Library, Room 118. We’ll view the webinar, “Open Education for Student Success.” Bring a lunch if you like; beverages and a snack will be provided. Open to all UofSC faculty, staff and students.
  • Open Education Bingo, all week. To be eligible to receive a prize, complete two or more of the Open Education activities on the Bingo card, document what you’ve done with a screenshot, and email it to DILLARDA@mailbox.sc.edu. Submission deadline is 11 p.m. Friday, March 8. Open to all UofSC Columbia faculty, staff and instructors.

Challenge the conventional. Create the exceptional. No Limits.
