    The University of South Carolina Sumter (UofSC Sumter) is a two-year public university campus located in Sumter, South Carolina. It is one of the four regional UofSC campuses and part of the University of South Carolina System. As a regional branch campus of the University of South Carolina, UofSC Sumter is primarily a teaching institution. The CS faculty member will join the Division of Mathematics, Science, and Engineering, with 15 full-time faculty, and primarily teach courses for the Sumter campus and Palmetto College. UofSC Sumter is home to approximately 1380 students and is fully accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.     Advertised Job Summary

     

    The University of South Carolina Sumter invites qualified candidates to apply for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Computer Science position with an anticipated starting date of January 1, 2023. Candidates must be willing and able to teach both lower and upper-level undergraduate courses in computer science in multiple modalities. This is 9-month full-time teaching, research, and service position.

     

    Courses will be taught face-to-face or online. The standard teaching load is 12 contact hours per semester, with a reduction of 3 hours per year, for faculty on the tenure track. Applicants must also demonstrate a strong commitment to establishing and maintaining professional activity in scholarship and service, as well as student advising, mentoring, and participation on campus committees.

     

    Salary at least $55,290+ or USDOL prevailing wage rate in effect at time of offer, depending on qualifications.

     

    Candidates must demonstrate commitment to or submit a record of effective undergraduate teaching, including general education courses for non-majors. Evidence of teaching effectiveness is required in the application documents. The required courses that will be taught include but are not limited to CSCE 101 Introductions to Computer Concepts, CSCE 102 General Applications Programming, CSCE 145 Algorithmic Design I, and CSCE 146 Algorithmic Design II.

     

    Required Education and Experience

    Candidates must possess a doctorate in Computer Science from an accredited institution by the beginning date of employment, including credentials necessary for departmental approval to teach introductory and upper-level courses as needed. The successful applicant must have at least one academic year of full-time teaching experience at the university levels as an instructor of record by the time of appointment. ABD candidates meeting the same qualifications will be considered for an interview but must have a terminal degree in hand by the time of appointment.

    Public Information Director I (Director of Marketing and Public Relations), Band 6, $48,362 per year. USC Sumter.  Reports directly to the Campus Dean and requires a Bachelor’s degree and 6 years professional experience related to the development and dissemination of informational material, or equivalency.  The Director of Marketing and Public Relations is a key member of the University leadership team and manages all marketing and public relations functions.  To qualify, candidate must:  demonstrate expertise in computer software required for production of publications and advertising (Adobe); demonstrate exceptional ability to communicate effectively; and have a record of success in Marketing and Public Relations and working with a team to meet objectives.  The Director will:

     

    • Create content, manage the scheduling of posts, and track social media data on all platforms.
    • Work directly with the Assistant Dean of Admissions to create effective communications plans for each stage of the admissions cycle. (Salesforce and Target X experience preferred).
    • Develop and implement a strategic marketing plan based on current market trends.
    • Manage third-party marketing relationships and proactively seek opportunities for additional partnerships.
    • Track and report Google Analytics for website and digital marketing effectiveness.
    • Coordinate and manage the dissemination of news and information concerning USC Sumter

    Financial Aid Coordinator (Financial Aid Counselor), Band 5, USC Sumter.  The Financial Aid Counselor represents the University of South Carolina Sumter to prospective, new, and continuing students; as well as family members, pertinent USC stakeholders, high school guidance counselors, and local administrators. In addition to counseling students, the FA Counselor is responsible for administering federal, state, and institutional aid; including scholarships, grants, loans, and Veterans Affairs benefits. Travel within the USC Sumter service area will be expected as needed. Bachelor’s degree and 1 year financial aid or related experience, or equivalent education and experience.     The University of South Carolina Sumter invites applications for a full-time, instructor position to begin January 2023 or August 2023. A Master’s degree in Chemistry with a minimum of 18 graduate credits in Chemistry is required at the time of appointment.  A strong commitment to undergraduate teaching is required. The successful candidate should be able to teach general and fundamental chemistry at the undergraduate level supporting in part a growing nursing program.  The teaching load will be twelve contact hours per semester.  Student advising, mentoring and participation on campus committees are expected.  Salary at least $40,000 or USDOL prevailing wage rate in effect at time of offer, depending on qualifications

    Trades Specialist V, USC Sumter.  USC Sumter has an open opportunity for a Trades Specialist V.  The Trades Specialist V, under general supervision, will perform trades related duties of considerable difficulty requiring a high degree of skill and technical knowledge in specialized trades such as HVAC, plumbing and electrical maintenance.  The position will also assist in setting up for special events, offices, classrooms and buildings. Provide skilled help in the maintenance of the physical plant, equipment, and university fleet.  Must possess a thorough knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems and have knowledge of the tools, equipment, and materials used in general building maintenance and construction trades and experience working with refrigerants and chillers; preferred knowledge of OSHA regulations, state and local codes.  Must have the ability to read blueprints and schematic drawings and be able to perform minor repairs and conduct safety practices on all equipment.  Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students and the general public.  Minimum qualifications: a high school diploma and 4 years experience in specialized trades area; or in a diversified building or vehicle maintenance, or construction activity. A universal HVAC certificate (EPA 608 Universal Certification), current South Carolina Class B License and South Carolina Boilers License preferred.  Must be able to obtain passenger and airbrake endorsement within one year of hire date. Salary: 35,360.
