Dr. Qi Wang (USC PI) awarded an NSF RII Track-I grant.

A South Carolina team, led by Drs Tanju Karanfil (PI, VPR, Clemson), Bruce Gao (Co-PI, Bioengineering, Clemson), Jihad Obeid (Co-PI, Medicine, MUSC), and Qi Wang (Co-PI, Math, USC), was awarded a $20 million NSF RII Track-1 grant for conducting research and development in “AI-enabled Devices for the Advancement of Personalized and Transformative Healthcare in South Carolina (ADAPT in SC).” (8/1/2023-7/31/2028). The vision of ADAPT in SC is to build research capacity at the nexus of artificial intelligence (AI), life and social sciences, and bioengineering through fundamental research, education, workforce development, and industry partnerships. Building this capacity will accelerate the development and deployment of AI solutions to create next-generation biomedical devices that will contribute to improved healthcare outcomes. The ADAPT team comprises 3 comprehensive research universities; 7 predominantly undergraduate institutions, including 3 minority-serving institutions; and 1 technical college in South Carolina.
