Arnold School of Public Health Computer Lab
Our team also oversees the Arnold School's main computer lab for students, which is located in Discovery Room 431. Within the computer lab there are 34 workstations and two black and white laser printers.
Due to Covid-19 there will be 20 socially-distanced workstations reserved for in-person use and 14 workstations available remotely using VMware Horizon.
Remotely available lab workstations should only be used for scheduled courses or when there are no other reservations for courses in the lab. Scheduled courses may need access to the remote workstations at those times. Please refer to the calendar of reservations linked below to check for appropriate times to connect. Only those students who have been pre-authorized by their instructors with ASPH OIT will be able to connect. Please check with your instructor if you receive a message stating you're not authorized.
For a guide on how to download and set up VMware Horizon on your computer, see this PDF: Accessing the Discovery Computer Lab Remotely
Current Lab Reservation Calendar
Computer lab hours:
The computer lab is open all day long 7-days a week now without GA staffing. The
lab is usually closed any time the University is closed for holiday breaks or otherwise.
Closures will be blocked out on the online reservation calendar linked above.
Computer lab notes:
Currently the workstations automatically restart at midnight and lock the keyboards
and mice until 4:00am to enter a maintenance period for security updates. All work saved to the local C drive (Desktop, Documents, etc folders) is lost ANY
time the workstation restarts. Work should only be saved to USB flash drives, the P drive on the workstation, or
temporarily to the C drive folders only to upload to your University OneDrive. If
there is an issue in the lab please either submit an IT support ticket by logging
into https://support.asph.sc.edu or check in with an IT staff member in offices DISC 423-427 for assistance.
