Also, she will be responsible for managing the Faculty Excellence Initiative, a faculty recruiting program to improve the overall quality and competitiveness of the University by focusing positions in areas that will advance the institution as a recognized leader in education and research.
Curtis holds a Ph.D. in analytical chemistry from Florida State University, and she has considerable experience as a faculty member and university administrator. She has held two associate provost positions and was associate vice president for research at Auburn.
Dennis Pruitt, a familiar figure at USC, will continue as vice president for the Division of Student Affairs, and will assume new responsibilities as vice provost for academic support. In the latter role he will be responsible for coordinating and managing all aspects of student support services, including residential learning centers, pre-professional advising, scholarships and fellowships, University 101, the TRIO program, the First Year Program, international programs for students, and student success programs.
Curtis and Pruitt join a team led by Mark Becker, executive vice president for academic affairs and provost.
