What You Need To Know About Your Room

Hanging Items on Walls

Please refer to your Move-In guide for information about what to bring to hang items on your residence hall room walls.  Please note:  Damage to room walls will result in fines at the conclusion of your stay.  Please ONLY use approved push pins in sheet rock walls and command strips on concrete walls.

Bathroom Cleaning

Traditional-style bathrooms are cleaned daily during the week.  Suite and Apartment-style bathrooms are cleaned once a month by University Housing.  Please ensure that items are put away from counters and shower areas on the day your floor is cleaned.

*Please note that residents of the Park Place community are responsible for bathroom cleaning throughout their stay.

If you want to use a microwave or refrigerator in your residence hall room, you'll need to purchase or rent a combination microwave and refrigerator called a microfridge. No individual refrigerators or microwaves are allowed in rooms that have beds in them. A microwave is acceptable in apartments only.

Personal & Liability Insurance
If you don't have renter's insurance, you can get a quote for coverage from our partner, GradGuard Insurance.
Green Certified Room

To receive the green room certification and to determine your “green” status, attend a Green Dorm Room Certification event hosted by your building’s EcoRep or email to ask about receiving a “Green Dorm Room Certification” questionnaire and certification sticker.

What You Need To Know About Move-In Traffic/Parking/Vehicles

Trucks, Trailers & Luggage Carriers

USCPD and University Housing remind everyone that no oversized trucks, trailers or car topped carriers are allowed on Move-In Days.  Vehicles that cannot fit into one parking space in a parking garage will not be allowed close to residence halls.

Traffic Patterns

Move-In day is always an exciting day on campus, however, to accommodate so many new Gamecocks moving in, traffic patterns in parts of campus will be adjusted to assist with traffic.

Some residence halls provide a limited-time unloading zone.  Please check with parking personnel as you approach your residence hall.

Gamecock Gateway

Residents and parents will need to drop off all belongings on the curb in front of Bates House and then park in parking lots at Founders Park.  Complimentary shuttles will be available to and from Founders Park and Bates House.
