Discover USC 2018 registration will open on the first day of spring semester classes, Tuesday, January 16, 2018, so it’s time to start making plans now.
Presenter Planning
The Discover USC 2018 presenter registration deadline is Friday, March 2, at 11:59 p.m. There will be a few changes for 2018:
- All abstracts will be limited to 350 words.
- Posters will be the standard presentation format for undergraduate students in 2018. Slots for undergraduate creative, oral and display presentations will be limited.
- All Medical Scholar presentations will be poster-format.

Volunteer, Reviewer and Outreach Table Planning
The registration deadline for volunteers and reviewers is Friday, March 30, at 11:59 p.m. Based on feedback from 2017, we will be centralizing reviewer packet returns for Discover USC 2018, making it easier for reviewers to submit their feedback packets at the end of the session.
Registration for outreach tables will be due by Friday, March 23, at 11:59 p.m. This year, we will offer an option for outreach tables to be set up with a display board backdrop in addition to the standard, six-foot skirted table and two chairs.
General Details
Discover USC 2018 will be held throughout the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center on Friday, April 20, 2018. (No events will be held in the USC Alumni Center.)
The morning session will run from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by a lunch break featuring the keynote speech by a distinguished USC alum. All presenters, volunteers, reviewers, outreach table registrants and primary mentors will receive a free boxed lunch. The afternoon session will follow, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Parking for Discover USC will be extremely limited, so attendees are encouraged to walk, carpool if coming from another campus, or take advantage of Discover USC shuttles. Shuttle service will be provided between the USC Columbia campus (multiple locations) and the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center throughout the day. Shuttle routes and other important details for Discover USC 2018 will be posted as soon as possible to aid with transportation planning.
