Juliana Glynn

Juliana L. Glynn is a native of the island of St. Vincent and the Grenadines who now lives in Sumter, S.C.  She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the university of South Carolina’s Palmetto College program and is pursuing a Master’s in Sociology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Ms. Glynn served a total of 7 years at Central Carolina Technical College in multiple capacities, including Administrative Coordinator of Student Records, Administrative Specialist of the Lee County campus, and as an Advisor for the SAGA student organization.  While enrolled as a student, she served in a federal work study role at the Kershaw County campus.  Under the leadership and support of the college, Ms. Glynn built enrollment at the Lee County site by offering increased student services and providing continual access and support to technology resources in an underserved community to prospective and enrolled students seeking educational credentials.

Her priorities include providing student access to high quality programs in education, removing barriers to student success and aligning programs to meet the needs of both students and businesses. Ms. Glynn continues to be an instrument for social justice, equity, and civic engagement.  Through her advisory work as a member of the Lee County Rural Leadership Institute Coalition, she contributed to building community relationships and to policy, program and activity changes that have led to improvements for people in the community of Lee County, South Carolina.  She firmly believes that education creates a foundation of a better life for individuals and ultimately a better quality of life for a community.

Prior to migrating to the United States 30 years ago, Ms. Glynn was employed as a journalist with the Vincentian Newspaper Organization.
