Society and Environment in Kazakhstan, Past and Present - Anth 323
In this Maymester Study Abroad program, we explore Kazakhstan, a unique and accessible Central Asian country with a rich history. We delve into its legendary past, from the Mongol tribes and the Silk Road to the industrial and scientific projects of the 20th century, and its environmental challenges. We examine the lasting legacies of modernization and how people adapt to damaged environments. This is an opportunity for intellectually curious students with an adventurous spirit who want to immerse themselves in a new culture. This is an all-inclusive program with lectures, discussions, and activities at local NGOs.*
