The College of Hospitality, Retail and Sport Management's Office of Student Services is following the University of South Carolina's COVID-19 operations plan.
You are encouraged to maintain your current appointment for virtual advisement. As a reminder, this is an online appointment. You will not report to the Close-Hipp building.
For students who have not scheduled an advisement appointment, you may still schedule your appointment. All appointments with us will be virtual until further notice.
To attend your advising appointment remotely through video or phone chat, follow the instructions below:
- Go to portal.office.com on your laptop or download Microsoft Teams through your cellphone App store
- Log in with your UofSC student email address
- Select the "Teams" app (a purple icon; you may need to navigate to "All Apps" to find the icon)
- Wait for your advisor to video or phone chat you
We encourage all students to become proactive in seeking advice on matters relating to their college career. Our outstanding advisors are available to assist with academic issues, as well as help prevent academic mishaps and ensure a smooth transition to and throughout college life at the University of South Carolina.
Your academic advisor will be meeting with you at least twice a year for advisement. We'll notify you by email when it's time to sign up for advisement.
Professional advisors are available to HRSM undergraduates on a year-round basis. Students may make appointments to meet with an advisor. A team of professional academic advisors coordinates advising activities, including educational planning toward meeting degree requirements, study abroad advisement, scheduling assistance and referrals to campus resources.
Students meet with an advisor during the formal advisement period before registration begins. All students are seen individually for advisement. Students are notified by e-mail and Blackboard when it is time to sign up for Summer, Fall and Spring advisement appointments.
Registration for courses takes place after the formal advisement period is over. You must be advised prior to registration. The University of South Carolina Registrar’s Office assigns each student an appointment date to register. Students may check their appointment time and register for courses on the Self Service Carolina registration system.
Please refer to your campus email address and Blackboard for advisement appointment dates.
For scheduling questions or concerns please contact the office at email@example.com.
