2021 White Coat Ceremony

The MD Classes of 2024 and 2025 had their White Coat ceremonies on October 1, 2021 at 3 PM and 5:30 PM, respectively, at Segra Park. School of Medicine Columbia alumnae Drs. Theresa Mills-Floyd ('99) and Lisa Oie ('95) delivered the addresses, after which the students recited the Pledge of Commitment, dedicating their lives to the service of humanity.

Berry Campbell, M.D., has been appointed chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology (Ob/Gyn). He has served as the interim chair of the Ob/Gyn department since Jan. 1, 2020.

Mayeaux to depart School of Medicine; Steen to serve as interim chair

E.J. Mayeaux, M.D., chair of the Department of Family and Preventive Medicine, has accepted a new role at Louisiana State University. Jamie Steen, M.D., will serve as interim chair.

Derek Payne promoted to assistant dean of administration and finance

Based on the recommendation of an advisory committee and a review of his qualifications, Executive Dean Les Hall has selected Derek Payne to fill the new position of assistant dean for administration and finance, effective July 1, 2018.

Perkins stepping down from SOM of medicine roles to focus on AVP position

On July 1, 2018, Jeffrey Perkins, CPA, CIA, CHFR, MBA, relinquished his roles as chief of staff and associate dean for administration and finance for the School of Medicine to focus his attention on his role as USC associate vice president for business & finance and medical business affairs (AVP).
