Academic Dean Reviews

Academic Deans are the chief executive officers of their administrative units and are responsible to the Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost of the University for the administration of their administrative units.

An annual year-end review of the Deans will be conducted by the Provost to identify successes and areas of improvement with respect to the goals established by the Dean and Provost at the beginning of the year. The Provost is committed to fostering the success of the deans and enhancing their effectiveness in a constructive way.

The administrative performance of deans shall be subject to recurrent formal comprehensive review at times that do not exceed five years between reviews. The provost shall have primary responsibility for selecting an internal, and possibly an external, review committee, delivering the formal charge to the committee, and establishing a timeline for the review.

See also University Policy ACAF 1.02 Periodic Evaluation of Academic Deans.

**Note:The Dean Review Final Report will only be available at this website until Friday, June 6, 2014. Please contact the Office of the Provost at provost@sc.edu or 777-2808 with any questions.**
