Painting invitational opens at McMaster Gallery Aug. 29

Emblematic, an invitational painting exhibition, will be on display at McMaster Gallery Aug. 29-Sept. 29. The exhibit, as well as a panel discussion and opening reception, are free and open to the public.

Emblematic is an invitational exhibition of representational paintings that offer images and objects that indicate a larger context. Artists included in this exhibition are Jim Barsness, Georgia; Scott Belville, Georgia; Robert Durham, Tenn.; Scott Eagle, NC; Sara Frankel, SC; Kate Kretz, NC; Richard Heipp, Fla.; Mark Messersmith, Fla.; and Marilyn Murphy, Tenn.

A panel discussion, followed by an opening reception, will take place in the Gallery Aug. 29. The panel discussion is scheduled to take place in Room 214 of McMaster College from 4 to 5 p.m.; the reception will be follow in the Gallery.

McMaster Gallery in located in the USC Department of Art at 1615 Senate Street, Columbia. Gallery hours are 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday,and Sunday 1-4 p.m. The gallery is closed Saturdays and all University holidays. The gallery is free and open to the public.
