Summer Research Symposium

The 2026 Summer Research Symposium will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2026 in the Atrium of the Science and Technology Building on the campus of the University of South Carolina.  The Symposium will feature presentations by undergraduate student researchers who have worked with USC faculty mentors during the summer. The program for the 2026 Symposium, including poster titles and presenters from both sessions, can be accessed here.  

The morning session will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. and will feature presentations by student researchers participating in the TRIO Ronald E. McNair Scholars Program, and the Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) in Physics and Astronomy, as well as students conducting research in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), Health Sciences, and the Social Sciences.

The afternoon session will take place from 1:00 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. and will feature presentations by student researchers representing the Molinaroli College of Engineering and Computing McNair Summer Scholars Program, the Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) in Design of Nanomaterials for 21st Century Energy, and the Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) in Quantum Information Science, as well as students conducting research in Engineering and Computing.

The public is invited to join us for poster sessions.  The address for the Science and Technology Building is 1112 Greene Street.  Visitor and Presenter parking can be found in the Discovery Plaza Garage (821 Park St.), 650 Lincoln Garage (900 block of Devine Street) and the Bull St Garage  (611 Bull Street).  A limited number of parking spaces may be available on Greene Street, Park Street, College Street, Sumter Street or others nearby; availability varies by time of day.  The lot directly in front of the S&T Building is a permit only lot.  Violators will be ticketed, and the OUR will not be responsible for any tickets incurred while attending the Symposium.

Note for presenters: The recommended size for posters presented at the Summer Research Symposium is four feet wide by three feet high. The maximum allowable size is four feet by four feet.  The minimum size is two feet by three feet (oriented vertically or horizontally).  Pins will be provided at the event to affix your poster to the board.
