New for Discover UofSC 2022

COVID safety plan

Discover UofSC organizers have taken care to plan the event with COVID safety in mind. In the coming weeks, we will unveil more details about our COVID safety plan, which meets or exceeds all university COVID safety guidelines for group gatherings.

Discover UofSC Research Ambassadors and keynote panel

Discover UofSC organizers will be trying something new in 2022. Instead of the traditional lunchtime keynote address, we will produce a special panel discussion video featuring some of UofSC’s top faculty researchers across a wide variety of disciplines. The video will be released before Discover UofSC, to build excitement as presenters, reviewers, volunteers and other participants get geared up for the big day. Panelists from the video will be honored as Discover UofSC Research Ambassadors at the event, where they will be on hand to participate and interact with presenters.

The Pastides Alumni Center will serve as venue for three-minute thesis competitions

Three-minute thesis presenters, reviewers and other supporters will convene at the UofSC Pastides Alumni Center (directly across the street from the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center) for Discover UofSC 2022. This will allow all Discover UofSC participants to maximize social distancing and provide a comfortable setting for graduate students to give their three-minute thesis presentations.
