The organizing committee of the University of South Carolina’s signature showcase of research, scholarship, leadership and creativity are very excited to announce that we will be hosting Discover USC 2023 on Friday, April 21 at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center.
We encourage all students, postdocs, faculty and staff to get involved. Undergraduate and graduate students, medical scholars and postdoctoral scholars may sign up to present their projects in every discipline from art to engineering. Faculty and staff, as well as postdocs and graduate students may serve as presentation reviewers, putting them squarely in the action as they interact with presenters and learn about their work. There are volunteer opportunities for all, for as little as one hour. Free boxed lunches will be provided for presenters, reviewers and volunteers.

Undergraduate Students
Undergraduate students will present a poster. A very limited number of display presentations are available; not all requests for this format will be approved.
Graduate Students, Postdocs and Medical Scholars
All graduate students, postdoctoral and medical scholars will present a poster at the showcase.
Notes for Reviewers and Volunteers
Reviewers and volunteers make Discover USC an effective and efficient event. We encourage faculty, staff and students to join us in one of these important roles on Friday, April 21, 2023. Lunch is provided for volunteers and reviewers, and all are welcome to check out the presentations.
Notes for Reviewers
All USC faculty, staff, postdocs and graduate students are encouraged to register to serve as a presentation reviewer at Discover USC 2023. Reviewers are very important to making Discover USC a valuable scholarly and professional development opportunity for presenters at every level of study. With hundreds of presentations expected from virtually every discipline, we will need reviewers with a wide variety of expertise, skills and experience.
Notes for Volunteers
All faculty, staff and students are welcome to volunteer for an hour or two, or the whole day. There are many volunteer roles, from staffing information desks to handing out stickers to help organizers get a head-count of attendees, so whatever your interest, there’s likely a volunteer role that will fit.
2023 Event Information
- Discover USC 2023 will feature a Guidebook app for ease and accessibility to the event.
- The event will offer free shuttles that run between the Horseshoe and the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center throughout the day.
- To focus the event spotlight on student presentations, there will be no keynote speaker at Discover USC 2023.
- For the safety of all attendees, balloons or other latex materials are not allowed in the building during this event.
