Courses

The Palmetto College iCarolina Labs offers 9 FREE courses for the community, faculty, staff, and students. These courses are two hour courses and are offered at the Palmetto College iCarolina Lab locations.

Apple Operating System

This introduction to iOS will allow participants to better utilize many of the features for iPhone, iPad, and devices that utilize this operating system. These features include lock screen gallery, lock screen switching, lock screen editing, stylized date and time, photo shuffle, photo manipulation, widgets, live activities, astronomy, weather, emoji, notifications, messages, mail, Safari, and passkeys. Participants will be allowed to create a custom setup for devices or for their personal devices.


Getting Started with your iPhone

This session will cover both basic and advanced usage of the iPhone. Topics will include: turn on and set up of iPhone, gestures with Face ID, iPhone camera basics, chargers and battery packs for iPhone, connection capabilities including Bluetooth and network connection, Apple ID and iCloud, personalizing your iPhone, apps, photos, GarageBand, Siri, and iPhone safety features.


Introduction to iPad

Getting to know your iPad, what’s new, set-up and getting started, basics, personalizing your iPad, Bluetooth, Apps, Siri, family sharing, screen time, using iPad with iPhone, iPod touch, Mac and PC, accessibility, security and privacy, and safety.


Introduction to Macbook

Introduction to MacBook: Setting up your MacBook Pro, identifying connections, touch ID, microphone, trackpad, connecting to a network, understanding Bluetooth, connecting to Bluetooth devices, apps included, connecting to and using the App Store, FaceTime , maps, messages, notes, music, podcasts, using Safari to search the web, photos, and GarageBand. The session will include the production of at least one project from a selected app on the MacBook.


Introduction to iMac

Setting up your iMac, identifying connections, microphone, trackpad, connecting to a network, Bluetooth, connecting to Bluetooth devices, apps included, FaceTime , maps, messages, notes, music, podcasts, using Safari to search the web, photos, GarageBand. The session will include the production of at least one project from a selected app on the iMac.


iApplications | Photos

This is a general course for iPhone, iMac, iPad, and MacBook Pro. Getting started with photos, taking better photos, importing photos, viewing in your library, improving your photos, create slideshows and new projects, and sharing photos. This is a project-based course, and participants will take photos, edit photos, and create a project to share during the session.


iApplications | GarageBand

Creating music using GarageBand with iPad, getting started with GarageBand for iPad, using the built in microphone, playing touch instruments, recording touch instruments, making a GarageBand song, using loops, remixing a song, using iCloud with GarageBand, sharing songs with GarageBand, displaying GarageBand. At the end of the session participants will create several songs and play them during the session.


iApplications | iMovie for IPhone

Creating movies with iMovie for iPhone or iPad, overview of the workflow process to create new projects, understanding clip, adding photos from the photos app, adding sound, creating a trailer, creating your own movie. Participants will create a trailer or movie to be displayed during the session.


iApplications | iMovie for iMac

Creating movies with iMovie for iMac or MacBook. Overview of the workflow process to create a new projects, understanding clips, adding photos from the app Photos, adding sound, advanced editing, creating a trailer, creating your own movie. Participants will create a trailer or movie to be displayed during the session.
